Hey All,
Hope you're all staying well through these challenging and difficult
times. Lot's for me to pray about, these days, for sure.
I wanted to share with you this email from Mike Tracy, who is administering
an online substitute for the Aebersold mini workshops that were cancelled
this year. It looks, to me, like there are some very good sessions! I can
highly recommend anything that comes from Aebersold's team, and they keep
it affordable!
So, here you go. Keep tearing it up! And let's keep working for
JUSTICE!!!!! We must do better.
Tim

Hello Everyone.
I trust you all are safe and healthy. I also trust that you are
continuing to play and practice, you might even have more time to do
so. There is one thing for sure, we all were looking forward to being
together in a few weeks – making music, seeing friends and making new
ones at the Summer Jazz Workshop 2020 edition. Many of you were also
going to participate in the initial Mini-Workshops. I have been involved
with the SJW since 1975, so you know that I, like many of you, am having
withdrawal.
When it was clear that the SJW could not be offered this year, I started
thinking if there were any realistic options. I had been teaching online
to finish the semester and immediately started to consider online
possibilities. It became clear that there could very well be viable
online options that would be of interest and a valued educational
experience. After discussion with colleagues and other trusted folks, I
decided to move ahead.
I would like to take this opportunity to announce
JazzWorkshops at JazzAnywhere.com.
The following collection of online courses will include:
· *Jazz Repertoire: Selection, Practice and Performance *(2 levels) with
Mike Tracy
· *Practicing and Mastering the Sounds of Jazz: In Theory and By Ear *(2
levels) with Pat Harbison
· *Samba and Beyond *with Hamilton Pinheiro (bass), Eudes Carvalho
(guitar), Misael Silvestre (piano), Pedro Almeida (drums)
· *It’s All About the Subs *with Corey Christiansen
· *General Jazz Piano Concepts* with Gabe Evens
· *You Too Can Play Brazilian Music *with Kiki Sebrian (drums),
Giovanni Sena (bass), Thiago Camargo (piano)
· *Trumpet Master Class* with Pat Harbison
Details:
· Each course will include 8 interactive sessions – many live and all
recorded for those who cannot attend due to:
- class size (some live sessions will have class size limits)
- personal schedules
- time zone challenges
· The idea is to be as hands on as possible with recorded examples,
including play-alongs for some courses, and PDFs with material connected to
the topic included in the fee.
· Affordable – with individual and multi-session discount pricing:
- $25 individual sessions
- $80 for 4 sessions
- $150 for 8 sessions, which completes the course.
- Payment by credit card, PayPal or Zelle
· All live sessions will be on Zoom. All live sessions will be
recorded
· All recorded sessions will be available on the JazzAnywhere.com site
for the entire 8 week time and one month following for repeated viewings.
· You are encouraged to enroll in multiple courses.
· All sessions will begin the week of July 6, 2020.
· Jason Lindsay will administer the JazzAnywhere.com site and collect
registrations and fees.
There are many outstanding online options that many of you have likely
tried. How are we different? The faculty and I are committed to
interacting with you as much as possible and I am confident you will have
an excellent experience. To that end, we will have an opening session on
July 1 where many, if not all, of the faculty will participate and
available to answer your questions.
Registration will be open on June 15, when the
JazzWorkshops at JazzAnywhere.com site becomes active. Look for additional
details soon on social media and email. Feel free to contact me if you
have questions or comments.
We are looking forward to making music with you.
Mike Tracy
